Sugo Trattoria is Peter & Annette Whites third successful food establishment together. The first being the legendary New York Subs on Petaluma Boulevard, followed by Twisted Vine in Scottsdale, Arizona, which was named one of the 15 Best New Restaurants by Phoenix Magazine. In 2007 they happily settled back into Petaluma as the owners/chefs of Sugo Trattoria.

What is the first thing you ever cooked?When I was really trying to make an adult meal, crepe suzette. As a kid, kraft Mac & cheese and
quesadillas. 

Who is your favorite celebrity chef? Tyler Florence, because he lives local and seems like a lot of my friends I hang out with. 

What’s your favorite wine? 95 Sterling Cabernet Reserve  

Where is your favorite place in the world? Wherever there is great food, wine and friends  

What keeps you up at night? Sometimes employees and sometimes putting a recipe together in my mind  

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?Owning five different restaurants in downtown Petaluma.  

What do you do for fun? Nap  

What do you love most about owning a restaurant? The sense of personal accomplishment and creating something that people enjoy.  

What dish are you most proud of?Housemade Pappardelle with rotisserie chicken, pistachios and wild mushrooms.  

What foods do you hate? Liver  

Last thing you cooked for yourself? Apple Tart  

Favorite food from childhood? Mac n cheese  

Last Restaurant you ate at?Scopa, Healdsburg, CA  

What is your quilty pleasure? Peanut M&Ms  

Where’s the place you’d most likely to be found outside of the restaurant? The Book Store  

What is your favorite kitchen gadget? Most gadgets aren’t necessary so I don’t have a favorite  

If you didn’t own a restaurant what would you be doing? unique interior design  

What’s on your Ipod that you wish was appropriate to play at the restaurant?Just about all of it; social distortion, bob marley, beastie boys

What is the first thing you ever cooked?Top ramen & cheesy nachos (a college student staple) . 

What would be your last supper?
Radicchio Salad from Scopa (Healdsburg), Focaccia & Pesto from Olive & Ivy (Scottsdale, AZ), Funghi Pizza from Rosso (Santa Rosa), Floating Island with crème anglaise from Charcuterie (Healdsburg), Gin Fizz from Spoonbar (Healdsburg). 

What’s your favorite wine?Rielle Zinfandel 

Where is your favorite place in the world? Any warm beach 

What do you do for fun? hike, blog, have new experiences 

What do you love most about owning a restaurant? Not having to cook at home, free samples and always having my ingredients prepped for me. 

What dish are you most proud of?Caprese Panzanella because it was the underdog for several months, but I fought for it to stick around and it has become one of the restaurant favorites. 

Last thing you cooked for yourself?Farro Risotto  with Wild Mushroom & Hazelnut 

Last Restaurant you ate at?P/30, Sebastopol, CA 

Where’s the place you’d most likely to be found outside of the restaurant? At the beach in the summer and sipping a jammy red at a wine bar in the winter. 

If you didn’t own a restaurant what would you be doing? A professional blogger/writer, so I could have the freedom to work from anywhere in the world. 

What’s on your Ipod that you wish was appropriate to play at the restaurant? Eminem, he’s a lyrical genius

If you had your own cooking show what would you name it? Bucket List for Foodies
